CALL FOR ARTISTS
WHAT DOES THE POST FOSSIL FUEL CITY LOOK LIKE?
From petrol to plastics many of our dominant systems and ways of relating are locked-in to fossil fuel dependency. The urgent need to reduce urban energy and material consumption comes at odds to our economic growth imperative. Taking place June 5th and 6th at the Amsterdam House of Arts and Crafts, Art for Climate is an intervention to this rapid destruction, an opportunity to slow down, connect and imagine the city and systems we want to live in.
Some say "it's easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism". This is where you come in, we are searching for creative expressions that imagine the city post fossil fuel and post growth. What kind of practices, structures and ways of being does this future look like? How do you envision community, employment, purpose, legacy or joy in a post growth world?
We do not believe in one homogenous vision for a radical fossil fuel free future. We are excited to see how these questions resonate with you and your practice.
All mediums are accepted, including but not limited to: visual art, poetry, performance, storytelling, film, music, design. We accept both previously created and newly created art.
Deadline: April 17
Our mission is to ensure that artists are paid a fair fee for their work. The exact amount, however, will be determined once the funding granted to this project has been confirmed.
